HAUNTED CAPE MAY PART 2

Take a ghostly tour with me now as we discover some of the most famous haunted houses of Cape May and where it seems death is always on holiday!

As I mentioned in last week's blog the great of 1878 fire destroyed 31 blocks of Cape May but that didn't keep the ghosts from relocating. The town rebuilt itself within a year and  the new buildings that went up were built in the modern style of the day...later known as the Victorian style. This explains the huge concentration of late 19th century dwellings in Cape May today...everything from Gothic Revival to Queen Anne design...all part of the country's Victorian era.
The row of Victorian homes called the "Seven Sisters"

Here are 2 others in the end included in that row-
I counted eight sisters-maybe one is a set of twins!

These "painted ladies" are known for fancy gables, gingerbread trim, stained glass windows and turrets. They also hold many secrets of their departed owners, who make their presence known today, in their fancy towers. It seems so many ghostly tales are connected to the many homes here both in legend and with eye witness accounts that one starts asking, "What houses aren't haunted?"

My friend and I took the night trolley "Ghosts of Cape May Tour" hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Center of the Arts volunteers. On the tour we traveled past some of the best known mansions for their "haunted" reputations. Here are a few of those stories.

John F. Craig House
This house has a long history. Originally built in 1866 by a wealthy Philadelphia merchant as his summer home the house expanded with each of it's new owners: The back end is the older Federal style while the front shows the distinctive Victorian architecture. Reportedly the older sections hold ghostly energies that are different from the newer sections of the house. Interesting, I didn't know ghosts were territorial?

John Craig was the third owner and one of the ghosts haunting there is suppose to be Emma Craig- his second wife- who likes to sit near the front window and sew. Formally a governess for his children after his first wife died, it was a big scandal when he married Emma as it was considered beneath his station to marry a servant who became the matriarch. Indeed it was a contentious union (as she was not well liked) with his unhappy children and relatives. Today she remains there stern and controlling as ever to let the newest owners who is still in charge.

           John F. Craig House

       Craig house on Columbia Avenue

I did a walking tour by this house during the day and met the newest owners. They were working outside in the garden and asked if I could take a photo of their beautiful home. They were very friendly and in conversation I asked them did they think their house was haunted? The woman answered without hesitation, "Oh yes! Very Haunted!"  She mentioned they hear men's voices (sailors) in the back of the house late at night and they seem to be talking about the best fishing spots in the bay. They also feels a woman's presence in the front parlor-smell perfume- and overall the ghosts don't like the doors kept closed! Perfect example of ghosts from different time periods peacefully coexisting without really paying attention to each other!

Emlen Physick House
The crown jewel of "Haunted Mansions" and nowhere else is this reputation so well-earned as at the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, Cape May’s original haunted house.

For years, MAC’s (the headquarters of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts is located on the estate) staffers had felt they were not alone in the house, but it was not until psychic medium Craig McManus began his investigations into the town’s paranormal activities was he able to identify who the ghosts were. McManus, who has written three books about Cape May’s haunting's and has documented spirit activity at dozens of the town’s quaint B&B inns and hotel properties, has spent a great deal of time at the Physick house and has identified several of its residents.

Most prominent among them is Dr. Physick’s Aunt Emilie, who has great energy and a vibrant smile, according to McManus. “This is a ghost who knows everything that is going on in her home,” McManus wrote. He also explained that, after her death, Emilie had stayed on to watch over the house, which had fallen into disrepair before its restoration began in 1970. She has been reportedly seen at one of the second floor windows looking down.

         Aunt Emilie and Emlen Physick

Dr. Physick’s mother, Frances Ralston, a strong presence she exerted in her lifetime is still felt as “residual energy,” especially in her bedroom on the second floor, the paranormal hot spot of the home. Another resident is Isabelle, or Bella, Mrs. Ralston’s invalid younger sister, who died in 1883, shortly after the family moved into the mansion.

It's was a revelation in hearing about a second floor hot spot on our tour. I remember years ago going on a tour of this house during a Victorian weekend where the guides wore period costumes. This was before the "ghost craze" took hold of this resort town. What stays in my memory was a set grandparents who took their granddaughter, who was about 11, on the tour. Our guide had just taken us into Bella's bedroom and the young girl seemed fascinated with the beautiful old fashioned dress on a mannequin.
It looked like it could have fit the girl as it seemed she was close in age to young Bella. Within minutes the girl appeared to become ill and nauseous and her grandparents rushed her out of the room. The guide seemed nervous and a bit rattled before continuing on about the furnishings in the room. I wondered on the spot if this had happened before with others taking the tour. Did residual energy of this sick sister and her affliction still remain and somehow affect this girl in a emphatic way?

A New Haunting Undocumented?
Here is something interesting that was sent to me this past week after one of my readers, Lisa Stewart read my blog last week on Haunted Cape May. She has been there to vacation and set me this photo of her in front of an 1875 house that is located on Beach Avenue. They did not notice anything strange until looking at their photos later at home and saw what looked like a figure in the left upstairs dormer window.
           Photo taken by Dan Stewart

Here is what I wrote back to Lisa. After looking carefully at the photo and I do believe you may have captured something very unusual at the window. It does look like a face and what is so compelling is that you have an exact same window right across from it that is open with the same width and that window shows nothing! It's almost as if someone is sitting down and holding something-or that the window looks propped up with a stick cane or there is almost full figure -we may be seeing the bottom of her dress-holding a mop handle or broom-perhaps a servant or maid still cleaning upstairs? They say woman's work is never done-even in the afterlife? LOL

In this online photo the 1875 house is currently on the market to be used as a rental property and can be yours for over $1,000.000.00. Ghosts included.  It is right near the famed Sea Mist on Beach Avenue.

Here is a PS from Lisa:
Anita, at first glance I didn't notice, but going back to view the other images of the window I found online- upon zooming I can see a face in the same window! It is not in the exact position as mine but same window, same general features. I wonder if it is truly a ghost?

In Cape May, Lisa, anything of the ghostly realm is quite possible!

HAUNTED CAPE MAY

I just returned from vacation and a much needed rest. Most people try to forget their business and problems while away and just relax.
So where did this "Haunted Author" go to get away from it all? To a shore resort in New Jersey that is considered one of the most haunted places on Earth-Cape May! Of course!
A long abandoned Victorian building we have passed in by in Cape May for years. It finally has been boarded up, fenced in and is going to be restored. Hopefully it doesn't come with ghosts-but who knows?

Now I have been going to Cape May on vacation for many years and am aware of it's long, colorful and interesting history. The early Delaware Indians fished and hunted along the coastal for centuries. In 1620 the Dutch sea Captain Cornelius Mey who was sailing along the Delaware Bay discovered the peninsula and named the area after himself-(later changed to May), and early New England whalers made their way to the area. Cape May also became a popular site for pirates and among them the notorious pirate Captain Kidd who is known to have stopped off in Cape May during his pirating/privateer days. There are even rumors that Kidd buried his treasure in Cape May prior to his eventual demise at the end of a hangman's noose.

      Captain William Kidd

How many times have I walked on the beaches here thinking that one day to find a gold doubloon washed up on the sand from his lost treasure hoard!

Authentic "Pirate Chest"

Gold Doubloons (minted in Spain 1535-1810)

In 1761 Cape May officially became the first seashore resort in America and was considered among the top vacation resorts in the country. Many wealthy families from Philadelphia originally built their large, impressive homes here to spend their summers (to get out of the oppressive hot city) for the last 200 years. In fact, the former actress and native of Philadelphia Grace Kelly, later the Princess of Monaco, vacationed here with her family while growing up.
But it never occurred to me while passing these beautiful examples of Federal and Victorian mansions on the many tree lined streets that there was more was going on behind the lace curtains than meets the eye.

Ghosts Take a Holiday

It's only recently that Cape May has gotten national attention as a place where the early residents loved their town so much that they many never left! Even after they died!

It was in 2005 that the author, Craig McManus first wrote his first in a series of 3 books on the ghostly haunting in Cape May that has apparently been going on for centuries. The stories from eye witnesses who owned many of the old homes (turned into Bed & Breakfasts) were so numerous that it lead him to interview, research and experience some of the paranormal activity himself.  His books present the wonderful back story and history of the houses he's visited and verifies many of the ghostly past residents he's encountered with the local historian. Craig had an advantage that many writers don't have and that is that he is also a psychic medium. His books: The Ghosts of Cape May Books 1,2,3 have become so popular that it has sprouted a cottage industry for Ghost tours year round.
His books can be found on Amazon or his website: WWW.CHANNELCRAIG.COM
(FYI-I recommend his books solely on my personal reading experience. I receive no endorsements or compensation by the author by mentioning his books).

Many business owners once reluctant to tell their guests to their B&B's and hotels that their establishment may be haunted (and thus scare away business) now proudly proclaim on their brochures and signs that may read, "Yes, Elaine's of Cape May is haunted! Join us for paranormal weekend investigation!"   OR
"The Congress Hall Hotel.. where people check in and some never check out!"
It seems that ghosts are good for business in the 21st century!

But why is Cape May such a haunted area?

Geographically speaking Cape May is "perfect storm" (please excuse the pun) for paranormal activity. Located on 3 sides with bodies of water (the Atlantic Ocean on 2 sides and the Delaware Bay of the other) it is only 2.7 square miles big but with huge amounts of quartz crystal deposits  found on it's beaches. The furthest southern tip of the peninsula -Sunset Beach- is made up entirely of smooth quartz pebbles where many find the famous Cape May Diamonds (small clear pure quartz crystals made into beautiful jewelry).
                              Cape May Diamonds

The theory is that these are factors for conducting large amounts of energy and thus high concentrations of unusual and paranormal activity in this unique and confined area.
Cape May has a long history of natural disasters and human tragedy which no doubt adds to the allure that it is very haunted. There are numerous ship wrecks off the peninsula and imagine the many sailors who lost their lives mourned by their families and widows. The many violent storms that have hit this sandy coast is witnessed by the tall and guiding beam of the famous Cape May Lighthouse and that too is said to be haunted.

Whole towns washed away during devastating hurricanes in the late 1800's with South Cape May literally vanishing into the ocean in the early 1900's.(now the site of a wildlife bird sanctuary).

In 1905, a local newspaper carried the story of a young man walking home on the South beach after a New Year's Eve party and who reported having a frightening experience. While walking by the structural remains of a home that had been recently ravished by a storm, he heard the mournful cries of a person calling for help. He looked up to see a whitish figure wildly gesturing with their hands standing at a broken window on the second story. The young man stood frozen in fear as the ghastly spectral image again screamed for help all the while frantically moving its arms. Thinking someone was trapped in the house, he turned to go in the direction for help. But suddenly a huge gust of wind churned up around him and everything became quiet. The young man looked back at the house that now stood silent, dark and empty. No one stood at the window. Scared, he threw several pebbles at the window further breaking its glass and then ran as fast as he could to the open road!
Just what did the young man see?

Several horrific fires like the great 1878 fire that destroyed 31 blocks of Cape May didn't keep the ghosts from relocating. The fire swept through the wood built Federal style homes and hotels and turned them into ashes in a matter of a few hours. However, the town rebuilt itself within a year and  the new buildings that went up were built in the modern style of the day...later known as the Victorian style. This explains the huge concentration of late 19th century dwellings in Cape May today...everything from Gothic Revival to Queen Anne design...all part of the country's Victorian era. These "painted ladies" are known for fancy gables, gingerbread trim, stained glass windows and turrets. They also hold many secrets of their departed owners, who make their presence known today, in their fancy towers.

WHAT ARE "SPIRIT RODS"?

One of the more controversial and recently questioned phenomena has been the "Rod" and if this is possibly a real spirit manifestation or just bugs on a camera lens or a common object unnaturally elongated that was created by a long stutter speed of a camera.

For lack of a better term they are called "Spirit Rods" and they are indeed a fascinating subject that have been reported and photographed by many people throughout the world and witnessed- mostly accidentally.

The Rods were first filmed by Jose Escamilla at Midway, New Mexico on March 19, 1994. Since that day in 1994, over 58 million people have visited his website: http://www.roswellrods.com/story.html (where Jose is originally from)

Thousands have submitted photos, video clips and written reports from experiences they have had with Rods. What is extraordinary about most of the written reports submitted by people from all walks of life, are that some of them have relayed information that only Jose Escamilla and his team of researchers had found out for themselves. Information that has never been released to the public started coming in from reports made by eye witnesses from different parts of the world.

Here's what has been described and what they all have in common. They are mostly long, white rod shaped things that appear mostly invisible to the naked eye. They can be several inches in length or several feet long. Sometimes they have come in different colors but white is the most frequently seen. When caught on film, video or still photos, they appear gliding, flexible and darting at a high rate of speed through the air. They have been seen during the day in the sky, caught on photos that have been taken at night or day, indoors and out, and divers have been reported of capturing images of rods underwater in single incidents and in groups or "schools".

An example of a Spirit Rod can be seen in action on this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZsS5RJgck8

So what are they?

Paranormal researchers know that ghosts are spirits that come into manifestation in ectoplasmic form. (They are spirits trapped between dimensions). As with all things - ghosts have their own frequency signatures. As the ectoplasm is the substance that enables spirits to manifest physically to some degree, sometimes the ectoplasmic energies can be seen - and other times photographed. Ectoplasm is not solid in consistency but more fluid and the shapes ghosts take can vary from almost human to animals, spiral rings, haze, orbs, balls of light, rods or ribbons.
So is that what they are? Just a spirit form of ectoplasm? Or is it something else?

Theories abound on "spirit rods" that they could be possible extra-terrestrial or entities from the fourth dimension, but one thing is certain they cannot all be explained or dismissed by conventional standards.

In 1991 during a space mission, astronaut Story Musgrave, reported seeing a rod or snake like object outside the window of the space shuttle Atlantis. The photo shown is one captured by NASA. Although it was explained away as random debris shaken loose by vibrations from the shuttle, it was later checked that no items were missing from the shuttle and all external materials were checked and accounted for. Today Musgrave lectures and contends this was something extra- terrestrial and not a man made object.

Would you willing to challenge conventional wisdom when you have had your own experience with spirit rods?
It was such an experience my daughter-in-law had the week of  December 12, 2013 that prompted me to make this the subject of this blog.
She was in my parent's home kitchen (she and my son moved there after the recent death of my mother) and was preparing dinner. As she and my son were sitting down at the table to eat she suddenly saw a flash of a long white rod dart from the left side of the kitchen to the sink. It happened so fast it totally startled her and her frightened reaction scared my son, too-who didn't catch site of it.

My son and I apparently captured strange looking rods on one of our photos in our hallway several years ago (when we had a lot of poltergeist activity) and weren't sure what is was, and actually ignored it. After researching for this blog I am re-examining our other photos to see what we missed.

We are not sure what these are and don't make a factual claim that these are spirit robs. Just interesting what we captured on film.

My son and I captured these images with his digital camera in late August of 2013 in our living room. Our photos show there were possibly rods along with the orbs (coming out of the dining room) present that night. It would seem, as there is on our real plane of existence, there is a great diversity in the spirit realm, too!

My son and his wife have also been witnessing some very strong poltergeist activity since they moved to my parent's house. My son has reported to me being awaken at night with loud bangs, voices and destruction of some of his models he has been working on for a client.

Some objects have moved in the kitchen, and a sun- catcher was smashed to the ground in the powder room next to the kitchen. These very similar occurrences happened in my house and it seems some spirits possible have traveled with my son to his new home; much to my and his wife's dismay.
In a future blog I will let you know what happened after Bill Bean, world renown spiritual minister, paranormal author and demonic survivor came to their house and his finding with his team. His finding and the results were both shocking and surprising!

NAZIS AND UFOS

There is a lot of information coming out in the last 4 years in books, TV series (History Channel) and documentaries about retrieved secret documents that have exposed Nazis and their links to the possible use of alien technology during WW 2. My blog deals with the idea of the possibility of this being true.

Supposedly Hitler and his scientists used that technology when a rumored UFO crashed in Germany's countryside in 1936. At this time Nazi Germany was rising from the ashes of the old German Republic and becoming the world’s first real superpower with Hitler as their Fuhrer.
Apparently when word of the crashed disc made it’s way back to the German High Command and the report landed on the Fuhrer’s desk, he immediately ordered elements of the Luftwaffe and Germany’s top aeronautical experts to sift through the remains and pick up the pieces. No record exists, however, indicating whether any bodies were also retrieved. The damaged saucer was moved into a warehouse facility under 24-hour guard near the Rhine. Some parts were also flown to a facility near the Austrian border.

                                   Saucer Photo unverified

Allegedly, members of the teams that worked on the advanced alien technology were from the Luftwaffe, the Speer Ministry of Arms headed by Albert Speer, and the formal research council, the “Reichsforschungrat,” composed of university professors and industrial engineers.
The teams were assembled to reverse engineer what was salvaged and among the experts called upon were the Horton brothers—who later designed and tested revolutionary flying wing aircraft and the world’s first stealth jet fighter-bomber. This has been surmised from drawings and other files gathered by the allies after the war. Some of the Horton brothers resulting technology may have been gleaned from intense study of the alien craft, although that cannot be proven.

Some of Germany’s most advanced theoretical engineers and physicists were personally tasked by Hitler to get the technology working and make it available for the war effort. In that regards, geniuses like Viktor Schauberger who worked on a revolutionary vortex motor in 1940 called the Repulsin(e)-a colloidal disc motor that utilized air and water contained in a copper casing to produce a mini-tornado, or vortex, inside the machine that caused levitation at some point. Rudolf Schriever who produced the first drawings of the Flugkreisel (in 1941), a circular flying craft was also recruited.

It was reported to Hitler on April 17, 1944 by the SS that the disc had successfully flown.

The world and it's military forces were stunned when Germany, a bankrupted, defeated country after WW I,was able to be so advanced with rockets 20 years later that they were set to take over the world.

With this design and other advancements like the Haunebu,Hitler pressed the engineers on wards with greater frenzy. Germany was now suffering nightly bombing raids and factories across the country had been moved to gigantic underground facilities. Aircraft production lines were being hampered and destroyed and the rocket facility run by Werner von Braun at Peenemunde was not back up to full capacity after being bombed in 1943.

                                                               The Haunebu

Germany's Haunebu 1- the first "Flying Saucer"

Slave laborers, mostly Slavic, were pressed into brutal service to produce V-2 rockets, advanced aircraft, synthetic fuel, high explosives…and incredible remote-controlled flying saucers.
Foo-Fighters

My dad and the rest of the 10 member crew was on a B-24 plane told me that they and other air men saw something strange one time in the sky - like flying lights-that other air men reported too during bombing raids on Germany. Their fighter planes accompanying the big Liberators used to go after them-they thought Germany had a secret weapon and the military were very concerned. The Allied pilots called them Foo-fighters. They did not know it at the time what they were until many years later. There is a theory they were something called "Foo Fighters" round balls of high energy- that were to disrupt their flight patterns over Germany.According to documents and the testimony of surviving Polish slave laborers, the Germans actually created an assembly line to manufacture a flying disc weapon called the Kugelblitz (ball lightening). These round balls of high energy were to disrupt the allies flight patterns over Germany.

According to captured documents, the radio-controlled craft were made in the underground factories at Thuringia and the craft varied in size from 10 to 15-feet across. Reportedly they were amazingly maneuverable and were able to achieve speeds of more than 1,250 miles per hour. They emitted a strong electo-static field designed to disrupt the electrical circuits of conventional aircraft causing enemy planes to falter, dive, and crash.

Undoubtedly, Germany’s super weapons—specifically those they were perfecting in the closing months of the war—would have defeated the Allies and helped Germany conquer and rule Western and Eastern Europe, but the Germans ran out of time.

Evidence exists that in the final weeks of the war the Germans successfully detonated their own low-yield atomic bomb and if delivered by their first intercontinental ballistic missile(the V 2 rocket) it would have sealed the fate of the Nazi’s enemies…and perhaps Adolf Hitler would have attained his twisted dream of a Thousand Year Reich.

UPDATE! EVPS HAUNT SHOW HOST AND GUEST!

Can the dead really speak to us? Can these disembodied voices imprint themselves and be captured on electronic devices?

Imagine the surprise for both radio show host Norene Balovich of "Do You Believe" (LiveSciFi.TV) and myself as her guest on her live SKYPE show last Sunday night (May 18th) when during the broad cast we were alerted by listeners that spectral voices (EVPS) were being heard over me as I was being interviewed!!!!

Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) are sounds found on electronic recordings which resemble speech, but are reportedly not the result of intentional recording or rendering. EVP'S are commonly found in recordings with static, stray radio transmissions, and background
noise. Recordings of EVP are often produced by increasing the gain (i.e. sensitivity) of the recording equipment.

Paranormal explanations for the origin of EVP include living humans imprinting thoughts directly on an electronic medium through psychokinesis and communication by entities such as spirits, nature energies, beings from other dimensions, or extraterrestrials. Portable digital voice recorders are currently the technology of choice for EVP investigators.

Interest in EVP surrounds claims that they are of paranormal origin, although a number of natural explanations have been offered including apophenia (finding significance in insignificant phenomena), auditory pareidolia (interpreting random sounds as voices in one's own language), equipment artifacts, and hoaxes.

Investigators today, equipped with electronic gear—like EMF meters, video cameras, and audio recorders—scour reportedly haunted venues, trying to uncover visual and audio evidence of ghosts. Many use portable recording devices in an attempt to capture EVP. (Some EVP enthusiasts describe hearing the words in EVP as an ability, much like learning a new language. Skeptics suggest that the claimed instances may be misinterpretations of natural phenomena, inadvertent influence of the electronic equipment by researchers, or deliberate influencing of the researchers and the equipment by third parties).

The concept of EVP has had an impact on popular culture. It is popular as an entertaining pursuit, as in ghost hunting, and as a means of dealing with grief. It has influenced literature, radio, film, and television.
Many "Paranormal" radio shows and Podcasts on the internet deal directly with the subject of EVP'S on a weekly basis by hosting people who are ghost investigators, authors and psychics who explore this topic and inform their audience with their sometimes shocking and terrifying recorded evidence. HOW IRONIC! READ ON!

SO- what exactly was going on during the live broad cast radio show hosted Norene Balovich of "Do You Believe" ?

As I was talking to Norene and answering her questions, the audio noise was crazy! Norene's fan going on and off on her computer (which never happened before) her mike had interference of bangs and knocks on it and then foul language and threats aimed at me were spoken in both German and English. This evidence during the live show of the paranormal EVP phenomenon just blew the audience away! It went on for the entire 52 minute show!

After the show I received some transcripts of what was said and there were horrific comments: about me, my book, the Holocaust and telling me I should not say anything else about the book and I should not have shown the artifacts I found at my deceased friend's house! Example: Nazi pins and German coins.

The next day I gave the show link to my son, Chris who many of you know is highly psychic, and he listened to the show on his cell phone-having it right up to his ear. He proceeded to write down what he heard-not knowing what the other people had listed of what they heard. The results were incredible. He wrote down 70 incidents of anomalies and EVPS from the broad cast. The man and woman were speaking with German Accents! Many of the words and phrases were the same as the other people had reported listening to the show when I compared the lists. Also, my son was physically and mentally drained after doing this! He said it was very hard listening to the awful EVPS.

Here is the Link to the show if you missed it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJWimc9-1qE&feature=share

(Note: The chat room was filled with posts written in the German language! Norene sent a draft of some of the EVPs and what they said after translation and I were horrified how directly they related to the haunting I had experienced 5 years go at the real Estate of Horror!! There was direct spectral interaction with our whole conversation during the show.

Here is another true encounter with one very disturbing EVP I captured in the basement of my house in February 2010. This is only a small sample of the continued evidence my family and I have collected while being on a long 5 year journey of living a paranormal life.

Home Aud 08.aup is the file name. It was only 9:13 minutes long.
Here is the sequence:
00-6:30- from the beginning I asked a series of questions to my deceased friend and members of his family about the things missing in our house and what we took out of his home, etc.
at 6:30-  heard static and there are bumps or taps
7:02-  suddenly the audio gets louder although I did not put up the volume-I had put the recorder down on a box the whole time and never touched it-something tuned up the volume dial.
8:34- I mention that the heater turned on
8:37- I say, "That's going to make noise"
8:40- (This is it) large area on the audio a Horrible raspy voice saying (we think)
"SHUT OFF THE RECORDER" It scared the Hell out of me.
8:42-9:13- I don't react at all as I didn't hear the voice and just goes to the end as I go back upstairs.
I can't include include the whole audio clip because of privacy issues.  If you would like me to e-mail the 10 second Sound Wave clip to you (you can play it on your Windows Media player) of that horrific EVP voice please contact me:
http://www.anitajointenzo.com/Contact_Anita.html

When you hear this- it will give you nightmares!

You know I was warned not to publish my book Estate of Horror. Guess what ghosts? Heads up! I'm writing the sequel!

Now you know why I'm called the Haunted Author!

UPDATE: For those loyal readers who have made this blog one of then most read with over 7900 views please stay tuned for more on this phenomena and my continued haunted experiences in my sequel Dark Transference coming out in September 2016!  You can visit my Facebook page for more information. www.facebook.com/darktransference

ARE YOU COMMUNICATING WITH SPIRITS?

Is there such a thing as a sixth sense?
Is it possible to communicate with the spirit world? Previous popular TV shows like Medium and Ghost Whisperer and psychic mediums like John Edwards and Theresa Caputo (Long Island Medium) all seem to suggest that talking to the dead and communication with spirits is quite possible.

Communicating with the dead is not new. In all cultures from Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to the Victorian Era and to modern times its been a practice to use different means to contact the "other world". The intense desire to communicate and connect with spirits is taught in the Egyptian "Book of the Dead". "Seers" like the Greek Oracle of Delphi were people who possessed the gift of "communicating with the other side" and were sought out for their guidance, prophetic warnings and to give validation to important decisions made that could have life and death consequences to the community.

In the Victorian era the "Spiritualist" movement was started in 1848 by the Fox sisters (they lived in New York) who claimed they were visited by an intelligent entity that gave them messages of things they could not known on their own. They were a sensation throughout the Eastern U.S. and the movement to contact the dead became very fashionable and popular. Many educated people of middle class and wealthy means held seances in the evening in the quest of serious scientific research but also in an era without radio, movies or TV it was also a form of entertainment and thrills. There were cases of fraud, as you can well imagine, as gullible people so anxious to contact to a loved one were taken over for large sums of money by charlatans, and the same holds true today.
There has been much controversy recently that the claims made by John Edwards and Theresa Caputo of their psychic abilities are not valid but fraudulent. Indeed, many of their "readings" are done on Television with emphasis on its entertainment value. I am not taking a stand on this one way or the other. Truth is in the substance of what they are really revealing with some results that seem quite astonishing. Its up to you what you believe about them.

I want to write about what I know to be a truth in this whole subject of communication with spirits. You see I have a psychic son, who is a Medium for the dead who talk to him, even when they are speaking a foreign language! Christopher is a unique person, and not because he is my son. He is a very talented Warhammer model maker: painter and builder, and graphic artist.

He is funny- children adore him- honest and a loving husband with many friends.
He is also a very reluctant psychic. He wishes he didn't have dead people coming to him in the middle of the night giving him messages for hours that leave him tired and drained of energy in the morning. But its been happening since 2009 when we first started working on cleaning out my deceased friend's estate.

It started out with a dream my son Chris had of my deceased friend only a few weeks after his sudden death.

From sources on reading ways people communicate with the dead,it seems when we are dreaming we are very open to communication from deceased loved ones and from the other side in general. This is because we're already in the astral plane, which is a non-physical place that we visit when we're asleep. It easier for the deceased "to meet us half-way energetically speaking, by visiting us there. This is what seems to have happened with my son.

Excerpt from Estate of Horror: Chapter 5

That same Sunday night Chris had a chilling dream. He came downstairs the next morning, said he wasn’t hungry, went directly to his worktable in the living room, and stood over a model miniature he’d been painting and began to work on it again. He had been painting Warhammer models for over twelve years and was an excellent model builder and painter.
I was at the dining room table paying some bills.
“It’s not a good idea to skip breakfast,” I said.
Chris looked at me. “I’ll have an early lunch.”
“I have to look through all of Paul’s bills that are being forwarded to me and I don’t know where to start." I became lost in concentration but glanced over to my son once or twice.  I knew my son too well; he was being unusually quiet.  Something was bothering him.
“Is something wrong, Chris?”
Chris didn’t look up. He was silent for a moment and then, as if trying to find the right phrasing he said, “By the way, Paul* says ‘Hi.’”
Surprised, I stopped what I was doing and looked up at him. “What are you talking about?”
My son still had his head bent over the model and was deep in concentration. “I saw Paul last night in a dream that really didn’t feel like a dream. It was very vivid. He was sitting on the recliner in our living room across from me dressed in a red hoodie and dark brown pants. He told me he was at the memorial service and that you’d done a great job. He really liked it.”
I just stared at Chris. I was stunned. “Are you kidding me?”
“No, I’m not kidding, Mom. Paul’s face looked gray and he told me that he’d been a bit scattered lately and it had taken a while for him to get his energy back.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing because it sounded just like Paul to use a pun like ‘being scattered’ when he knew full well that his last wishes were to have his ashes scattered on a mountain top,as they had been only days earlier.
I guess I was feeling a little hurt that my friend hadn’t come to me.  “I wonder why he came to you and not me,” I said.
“He came to me because he knows how mad you are at him. He figured you didn’t want to see him.”
I put my hand to my mouth.  “Oh my God!”
Chris continued, “He seemed to think like there was nothing wrong in his mind, and that it was business as usual and that he was going home after our visit. Then, he said, ‘I’ll see you again,’ and I told him, ‘Dude, you’re dead.’ He didn’t say anything; he just got up from the chair and walked right through the wall.”
My jaw dropped.
“Mom, I feel so drained this morning, like I didn’t get any sleep at all last night.”
“I don’t know what to say, Chris,” I said, as chills ran up my spine. Then I had a creepy thought. Of course, Paul’s complexion looked gray; he had been cremated, hadn’t he?

There is no doubt in my mind that my son's long time connection to my friend Paul* and him helping me clean out Paul's house somehow triggered and brought a dormant psychic ability that was always present in my son to the surface. Looking back I remember Chris telling me of an "imaginary friend" that played with him in his bedroom. He never told me of any unusual dreams but he went though a period of time when he was about 6 and would awake in the middle of the night, come into my bedroom frightened and tell me, "the lady was looking at me". I thought at the time it was an Renaissance woman's portrait I had painted in art school hanging near his bedroom, so I removed it thinking that was the cause of his terror. I know now it was something else. Perhaps what they say in the old song,"I'll see you in my dreams" is really true.

Please read Part 2 of this blog: My Son, The Reluctant Psychic, about some of my son's unusual and astonishing dreams. I can only relate a few as I am writing a sequel to my first book and his remarkable communications with deceased people and the astonishing accuracy of the information they have related to him will be fascinating reading.
